A glimpse of Bukit Tinggi

As a full time employee I have a limited leave from the office. So, when I run out leave, all i can do is arrange a trip during weekend. YES WEEKEND, it's only two days, SATURDAY and SUNDAY, too fast huh? tell me about it :)). Well, It really happened on my trip to Padang - Bukit Tinggi on last July. I better called it "accompany my mom trip" even she stayed there for a week :((, life is unfair, yeaah sometimes .

During this SUPER short trip, I spent my first day in Bukit Tinggi (around 2 hours by car from Padang) and second day in Padang (this is a capital city of West Sumatera). Fortunately, I got local guide who is my mom friend, he accompanied me to travel Bukit Tinggi a whole day. He told me everything he knew from his city, from the history, buildings, landscapes, national figures and many more.

The architecture of the building in this area is unique, especially on the roof. It has a multi-tier roof somehow it looks like a gable. Those traditional house with that kind of roof shape called "Rumah Gadang". Gadang means big, and yes this house usually has a big room in the middle of the house. Beside houses, this roof sometimes used for other buildings such as gazebo, house and park decoration, Gas station, and Government offices.

Hopefully I have another chance to explore Bukit Tinggi City. I want to visit Maninjau and Singkarak Lakes :).
